Day 77

This has to be a short post because I am writing it on my iPod. We made it safely to Australia and are driving up the coast towards Cairns in a big campervan. It is nice and hot with a ton of wildlife. I will post the next time I have wifi.

  1. Hey Declan
Glad to hear that you guys made it safely to Australia! Tell your dad to be careful driving and to watch out for the road trains! Cairns is a nice city. I went to a conference there in 2002. We went camping on Magnetic Island. That was great. Also went snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef. The best thing was the giant clams. Amazingly gorgeous and so colorful. Another place I liked was Cooktown, if you get up there, it's really cool. Eat some barramundi. Laura has fantastic rock art. I hope you guys will get to see some while you are traveling around. There are lots of amazing birds in Queensland like the bowerbird and the brush turkey. Another thing I love about that area is the architecture, especially the Queenslander-style houses. If you go swimming, be careful of all the nasties in the water like jellyfish and sea snakes and salties. And watch out for snakes....the only non-poisonous snake in Australia is the blind snake. The best thing to remember is to be prepared for the unexpected! (Words of wisdom from Antoinette). Seriously, you are going to have such a great adventure; enjoy yourself!
Love to all of you, from all of us here in Los Osos!
